A Man Afraid of Dyin'
Often seeds of childhood pain give birth to weeds of lifelong terror
Mental myth assumes a form supporting human thinking error
Those who know their deeper minds will see the truth and not fear death
Grim reaper is mere fantasy for spectres breathe no living breath
There is no fear but fear itself, “Be Free" the wise man said.
A man afraid of dyin' is a man already dead
I contemplated what he'd said the mystery of Grim Reaper's power
How is it that his menace grows this fear of death the final hour
We fear what we do not perceive out of our mental ignorance
Grim reaper sprouts from solid roots in such a fertile circumstance
There is no fear but fear itself, “Be Free" the wise man said
A man afraid of dyin' is a man already dead
All that glitters is not gold your world is subject to decay
While you seek to soothe your soul temptation steals your heart away
Where rust corrupts and moths destroy illusions flourish in full measure
Seek the truth inside yourself, you’ll find a fountainhead of pleasure
Take no thought for food or drink don’t worry for a bed
A man afraid of dyin' is a man already dead
I thought of all the worldly trappings cars and clothes and diamond rings
Perhaps he's right true ecstasy cannot be found in worldly things
Distractions by the tangible convince the mind to search amiss
In solitude we learn to find the path of truth to mental bliss
Take no thought for food or drink don't worry for a bed
A man afraid of dyin' is a man already dead
Accept your destiny for your creator does not make mistakes
There are no three sides to each story truth is not a side one takes
Things are always as they should be that’s the truth you'll come to know
Every moment offers you the opportunity to grow
Don't be afraid to venture forth where angels fear to tread
A man afraid of dyin' is a man already dead
When you can perceive your beauty in the mirrors you embrace
You will see how self-acceptance leads one to the state of grace
Harbinger of power grace is fear not to follow sound advice
This greatest gift the gift of grace does not come without sacrifice
Don't be afraid to venture forth where angels fear to tread
A man afraid of dyin' is a man already dead
